A Tribute to Skylyr

Skylyr was a beautiful and wonderful soul who left this world way to early. Skylyr passed away at the young age of 6. Why she left us so early, unfortunately we will never know. To honor her Lifesavers will save as many Great Pyrenees as our volunteers possibly can.

Blaze is a gorgeous 8 month old male black lab mix with a docked tail that currently weighs about 40lbs. Lifesavers saw a video of Blaze at a high kill shelter in Texas where he was really scared and shut down and we knew we had to save him. Once Blaze was in a foster home, we quickly discovered that he was lethargic, in pain and having mobility issues. We initially thought he may have been hit by a car as he was a stray. After extensive testing, we learned that he had Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever (RMSF) which is a tick born disease. Blaze has been treated for the disease and has been receiving lots of love and TLC. He is feeling much better now and is mobile again. His gait is still impacted slightly after being treated so he will often “bunny hop”. The vet does not know if his gait will improve 100% but the good news is he is not in any pain and still able to do everything an 8 month old puppy loves to do!

Blaze is a Velcro dog that loves to be with his people. He is super sweet and loves to snuggle. He also loves to play ball, play in the water and get belly rubs. Blaze is housebroken, crate trained, fully vetted and ready for adoption!
